WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS SAINT JOSEPH, 3-0
CHICOPEE, MA, Oct. 24, 2006 - Elms College freshman opposite Amanda Konsewicz (Westfield, MA) recorded a match-high 10 kills and freshman setter Kimberly Phillips (Randolph, MA) added a match-high 23 assists to help lead the Blazers to a 3-0 (30-23, 30-19, 30-28) win over St. Joseph College (CT) in Wednesday night's non-conference women's volleyball match at the Maguire Center.
Elms College, which earned its first-ever win in three all-time meetings with St. Joseph, won for the second time in its last three matches to improve to 7-13 overall. The visiting Blue Jays lost their eighth straight match and fell to 1-13 overall.
Freshman outside hitters Samantha Sitek (Belchertown, MA) and Chie Inoue (Kochi, Japan) combined for nine kills and 20 digs for the Blazers in the victory.
St. Joseph received a team-high six kills and two block solos from senior middle hitter Petra Ann Clarke (Bridgeport, CT) in the losing effort.
Elms College returns to non-conference play at WPI
on Thursday, October 26. Match time is 7:00 p.m.
