About The Team

The men's basketball team has evolved into one of the most successful Division III programs in New England during the past three years.

Since 2004, the Blazers have gone 62-25 overall (.712 winning percentage), won 20 or more games in three straight seasons, earned three consecutive NAC Tournament titles, and appeared in each of the last three NCAA Division III Championships.

After starting this season 4-4, the Blazers won 16 of their final 21 games, culminating with an 81-69 win at top-seeded Husson College (Bangor, Maine) in the NAC championship game.

Point guard John Ancrum (Harlem, NY), who graduated as the program's all-time leader in assists (617) and second all-time scoring leader (1,162 points), was named Second-Team All-NAC in 2006-07.

Senior guard David Williams (Hartford, CT), who earned Honorable Mention All-NAC, averaged a team-leading 13.8 points per game and finished as the program's fifth all-time leading scorer with 858 points in just two seasons.

Point guard Juan Galdon (Holyoke, MA) earned NAC Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors as he netted a collegiate career-high 20 points in the Blazers' win over top-seeded Husson in the conference tournament title game.

The men's basketball program has also achieved both individual and team national statistical rankings during the past several years.

Ancrum, the nation's Division III leader in assists per game in 2004-05, finished 56th nationally in that category a year ago, while the Blazers ranked 16th in scoring offense (83.3) and 44th in rebounding margin (+5.0).

Elms College's schedule is among the toughest of any Division III program in New England. Last season's slate was highlighted by non-conference games against the 2006-07 Division III national champion Amherst College, as well as NCAA Division III Championship qualifiers Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and Brandeis University (Waltham, Massachusetts.)

The 2007-08 schedule features trips to compete in both the Colby College Invitational in Waterville, Maine, and the Christmas Classic hosted by Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. In addition to its NAC slate, the Blazers will play non-conference games against Amherst, Brandeis, Westfield State College, and WPI.

The Blazers are members of the NAC, the NCAA, and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
