About The Team
Established in 1986, the women's soccer team has enjoyed
unprecedented success during the past five seasons. Since 2004, the
Blazers have recorded 57 victories, earned five straight conference
tournament berths, and had 22 players named all-conference.
In 1999, the Blazers won the North Atlantic Conference (NAC)
Championship - the first soccer title in school history, and in
2006, they posted the program's first-ever 14-win season en route
to the regular season conference title.
Under the guidance of first-year head coach Kevin
Meek, the Blazers won six of their final 10 games of the
season en route to a nine-win season and an impressive 7-1 mark in
league play, capturing the second seed for the 2009 New England
Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship tournament.
Senior forward Krystyna Gagne (Methuen, Mass.)
netted a single-season career-high 15 goals and finished her career
with a program record 44 goals. Gagne, who scored all five of the
team’s goals against Becker, was named First Team All-NECC,
along with junior midfielder Alison Couture (Chicopee,
Mass.) and senior defender Justine Pereira
(Ludlow, Mass.). Couture was second on the team in scoring
with seven goals, five of which came during league action. Pereira
anchored the Blazers’ defensive third of the field, helping
Elms secure six shutout victories on the season.
Freshman goalkeeper Molly Corse (Bernardston,
Mass.) was named All-NECC Honorable Mention. The
first-year net-minder collected 131 saves and posted seven
shutouts, five against conference competition.
In addition to competing in the NECC, the Blazers are also members
of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and National
Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
