About The Team

Since its first season in 1986, the softball program has won more than 200 games, made nine Massachusetts Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (MAIAW) tournament appearances, won the 1994 MAIAW tournament championship, claimed four North Atlantic Conference (NAC) tournament championships, and in 2003, became the first team in any sport in Elms College Athletic Department history to earn a bid to the NCAA Division III championship.

The Blazers have been especially dominant since 2002, as they have earned three berths in the NCAA Division III Championship (2003, 2006, and 2007), claimed five regular season conference titles, and won 144 of their 211 total games for a .682 winning percentage.

The program has been recognized nationally for team batting average and scoring. Individual players have been honored nationally as NCAA Division III statistical leaders, including Linda Kieras ‘96, the 1994 NCAA Division III national batting champion.

In 2007, the Blazers won 11 of the last 12 games en route to their second straight NAC Tournament title and NCAA Division III Championship berth.

First baseman Christina Giampetruzzi (Westfield, MA) was named First Team All-NAC, as she led the Blazers with a .430 batting average, 43 hits including eight doubles, and 34 RBI.

Pitcher Tammie Tremblay (Springfield, MA) received Second Team All-NAC honors as well as being named the NAC Championship Most Valuable Player. Tremblay recorded an 11-6 record with a 2.72 earned run average and 66 strikeouts in 21 appearances last season.

Shortstop Jen LeDoux (Easthampton, MA) and catcher Kim Lastowski (Turners Falls, MA) were each named Honorable Mention All-NAC. LeDoux finished with a .311 batting average and a team-leading 10 steals, while Lastowski committed just one error and registered a .993 fielding percentage in 28 starts behind the plate.

At the beginning of each season, the Blazers travel south to compete against many of the nation's top Division III programs in the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. The team also travels to Maine and the greater Boston area for conference doubleheaders during the month of April.
