WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SWEPT IN NAC TRI-MATCH
CHICOPEE, MA, Oct. 28, 2006 - Elms College freshman outside hitters Chie Inoue (Kochi, Japan) and Amanda Konsewicz (Westfield, MA) combined for 37 kills in two matches, but the Blazers fell to both Husson College and Maine Maritime Academy in Saturday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's volleyball matches at the Maguire Center.
Elms College lost to Husson 3-1 (30-19, 30-27, 25-30, 30-24) and later fell to Maine Maritime 3-1 (30-18, 30-32, 30-26, 30-26).
Husson split its two NAC matches following a 3-2 (21-30, 28-30, 30-24, 30-23, 15-13) loss to Becker.
Maine Maritime earned a sweep of its two matches following a 3-0 (30-16, 30-28, 30-15) win over Becker.
The Mariners (13-7 overall, 8-2 NAC) received a combined 17 kills from freshman middle hitter Amy Young (Cumberland, ME) and 50 assists from junior setter Becca Allen (Bucksport, ME) in their two victories.
Husson (14-9 overall, 5-5 NAC) received a combined 44-kill, 37-dig effort from freshman outside hitter Allison Chepke (North Jackson, OH), while freshman outside hitter Marion Kish (Wallingford, CT) handed out 76 assists on the day.
Becker (10-16 overall, 5-5 NAC) received a combined 21 kills from sophomore outside hitter Rachel Pinak (Buffalo, NY) in its two matches on Saturday.
