MOUNT IDA, LASELL SWEEP NAC WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL QUAD-MATCH

CHICOPEE, MA, Sept. 30, 2006 - Elms College freshman outside hitter Chie Inoue (Kochi, Japan) recorded a combined 10 kills in two matches, but the Blazers lost a pair of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's volleyball matches on Saturday at the Maguire Center.

Elms College fell to Mount Ida 3-0 (30-14, 30-14, 30-28) and later lost to Lasell College 3-0 (30-23, 30-18, 30-18).

Mount Ida completed a sweep of its two conference matches with a 3-0 (30-18, 30-15, 30-19) win over Becker, while Lasell opened its day with a 3-1 (30-9, 30-8, 27-30, 30-12) win over Becker.

With its two wins on Saturday, Mount Ida extended its winning streak to four and won for the eighth time in its last nine overall matches to improve to 10-5 overall, 6-0 NAC.

Lasell improved to 11-6 overall and remained tied atop the NAC standings with Mount Ida at 6-0.

Elms College lost its third straight match to fall to 4-7 overall, 2-4 NAC.

In Mount Ida's win over Elms College, senior outside hitter Adrienne Xenos (Brockton, MA) knocked registered match-highs with nine kills and nine aces, while sophomore setter Stephanie Saito (West Linn, OR) added 16 assists.

In Mount Ida's sweep of Becker, Xenos and freshman outside hitter Amanda Pereira (New Bedford, MA) knocked down 12 kills apiece and Saito added 21 assists. Freshman libero Brianne Cobb (New Bedford, MA) recorded 21 digs defensively in that victory.

In that victory, the Lasers received a match-high nine kills and seven aces from senior outside hitter Angela Lavoie (Epping, NH), junior setter Katelyn Rasich (Hellertown, PA) had 21 assists and freshman libero Amanda Major (Southbury, CT) added 15 digs.

In Lasell's win over Elms College, sophomore opposite Kelsey Schmidt (Malta, NY) blasted a match-high 12 kills and Rasich added a match-high 39 assists

Becker received a combined 13 kills, four block solos and 14 digs from sophomore middle hitter Rachel Pinak (Buffalo, NY) in its two losses on Saturday.
