WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS IN NAC QUARTERFINAL 0-3

NEWTON, MA, Nov. 1, 2006 - Elms College freshman middle hitter Melissa Clark (Chicopee, MA) recorded a team-high six kills and freshman outside hitter Chie Inoue (Kochi, Japan) added 15 digs, but top-seeded Mount Ida College posted a 3-0 (30-28, 30-17, 30-16) win over the eighth-seeded Blazers in Wednesday night's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Tournament women's volleyball quarterfinal match at the Mount Ida Athletic Center.

With the loss, Elms College is eliminated from the NAC Tournament and finished its season 7-17 overall.

Mount Ida, the four-time defending NAC Tournament champion, improved to 19-9 overall and advanced to host Saturday's four-team conference championship. The Mustangs also extended their conference winning streak to 36-straight.

The Mustangs received a match-high 10 kills and five service aces from senior outside hitter Adrienne Xenos (Brockton, MA).

Freshman outside hitter Samantha Sitek recorded eight digs, while freshman outside hitter Amanda Konsewicz (Westfield, MA) added three kills and three block solos for the Blazers in the loss.
