Talmadge Named NECC Rookie Of The Week
TALMADGE NAMED NECC ROOKIE
OF THE WEEK
FOR THIRD TIME THIS SEASON
ATTLEBORO, MA, Feb. 2, 2009 - Elms College women's
basketball freshman point guard Carolyn Talmadge
(Wilbraham, MA) was named New England Collegiate
Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week for the third time this season
on Monday afternoon.
Talmadge, who also earned conference rookie honors on January 4 and January 11, averaged 13.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.3 steals to help lead the Blazers to a perfect 3-0 week that included conference victories over Bay Path (76-33), Mitchell (77-47) and Daniel Webster (60-49).
During last week's three games, Talmadge was 15 of 30 (50.0-percent) from the field, including 3 of 8 (37.5-percent) from 3-point range.
For the season, Talmadge, who has started all 18 games, is averaging 8.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.5 steals.
The Blazers (9-9, 7-2 NECC) have won four straight and seven of eight as they return to conference play at Lesley University on Thursday, February 5. Tip-off is 8:00 p.m.
