Brogna Named NECC Player Of The Week

BROGNA NAMED NECC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ATTLEBORO, MA, Jan. 20, 2009 - Women's basketball junior forward Amanda Brogna (Oxford, MA) was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week on Tuesday, January 20.

Brogna registered three straight double-doubles and averaged 17.3 points, 16.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists to help lead the Blazers to a perfect 3-0 week with conference victories over Wheelock, Newbury and Southern Vermont.

Brogna recorded her first double-double of the week with a 19-point, 14-rebound effort in a 71-40 win at Wheelock. She followed with 19 points and a career-high 20 rebounds in a 73-59 victory over Newbury, then concluded the week with 14 points and 16 boards in an 85-54 win at Southern Vermont. 

For the season, Brogna has recorded seven double-doubles and leads the team in both scoring (16.3 ppg) and rebounding (11.1 rpg).
