  WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ELIMINATED FROM NAC TOURNAMENT

CASTINE, ME. Feb. 26, 2008 - Elms College sophomore guard Ally Wanat (West Springfield, MA) scored nine points on 3 of 5 shooting from 3-point range and added four steals, but could not stop the Blazers from being defeated by Maine-Maritime 65-25 in Tuesday night's North Atlantic Conference women's basketball quarterfinal game.

With the victory Maine Maritime improves to 18-8 overall and advances to the NAC semifinals.  The defeat eliminates Elms College from the NAC tournament and the Blazers finish the season at a mark of 9-17.

Junior forward Shauna Sullivan (Chicopee, MA) netted 9 points and had a team-high five rebounds in the losing effort.

Maine-Maritime freshman guard Brittany Hunt (Hickory, NC) led all scorers with 18 points.  Lady Mariner junior forward Megan Franklin (Skowhegan, ME) recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds as Maine-Maritime outscored Elms College 24-10 in the paint.
