WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS AT MAINE MARITIME, 89-33

CASTINE, ME, Dec. 9, 2006 - Elms College sophomore guard Jenn Payton (Stratford, CT) scored a team-high eight points, but Maine Maritime received a game-high 32-point effort from senior forward Alyssa Burns (Dixfield, ME) to help lead the host Mariners to an 89-33 win over the Blazers in Saturday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball game at Castine, Maine.

With the loss, Elms College fell to 3-5 overall, 1-2 NAC. Maine Maritime remained undefeated at 8-0 overall, 5-0 NAC.

In addition to Burns, the Mariners had five other players score eight or more points in the victory. Maine Maritime shot 56.6-percent from the field.
