WOMEN'S BASKETBALL BREEZES BY BAY PATH, 71-42

HOLYOKE, MA, Jan. 23, 2007 - Elms College sophomore guard Jenn Payton (Stratford, CT) poured in a team-high 20 points and the Blazers shot 52-percent from 3-point range to pull away to a convincing 71-42 win over Bay Path College in Tuesday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball game at Holyoke Community College.

With the win, the Blazers snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 5-10 overall, 3-5 NAC. The Wildcats fell to 1-14 overall, 0-11 NAC.

Freshman guard Annie Dunnack (Mansfield Center, CT) added a collegiate career-high 12 points for the Blazers, who converted 28 Bay Path turnovers into 29 points.

Elms College knocked down 7 of 12 three-pointers in the opening half to build a commanding 43-17 lead at intermission.

For the game, Elms College drained a season-high 10 three-pointers and finished 10 of 19 from beyond the arc in the victory.

Elms College will face Bay Path for the second time this week when it hosts the Wildcats on Saturday, January 27. Tip-off is 1:00 p.m. at the Maguire Center.
