SWIMMING COMPETES IN 2007-08 SEASON OPENING

Women's team places second, men's team  finishes third

NEWBURGH, NY, Oct. 28, 2007 - Sophomore Marie Waterhouse (East Longmeadow, MA) earned second place finishes in both the 50 and 100-yard backstroke, and sophomore Jason DiMauro (New Hartford, CT) placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke as Elms College's highest individual finishers at Sunday's Mount St. Mary Invitational men's and women's swim meet at Newburgh.

Elms College was second in the five-team women's meet, and was third in the four-team men's meet.

In the women's meet, Waterhouse teamed with senior Kaity Jo Bryll (East Hartland, CT), freshman Theresa Pitassi (Naugatuck, CT) and junior Kate Orefice (Southington, CT) to finish second in the 200-yard medley relay (2:07.44).

In the men's meet, DiMauro teamed with freshmen Joe King (Springfield, MA), Nick Whitman (Florence, MA) and sophomore Mike Starke (Chicopee, MA) to clock a third-place time of 1:58.53 in the 200-yard medley relay.

Elms College's women's team returns to action on Saturday, November 3 at 2:30 p.m. when it hosts Simmons and Wheelock, while the men's team competes in a dual-meet at Clark University on Wednesday, November 7.
