 MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO LASELL IN DOUBLE OVERTIME, 2-1

NEWTON, MA, Oct. 11, 2006 - Elms College freshman midfielder Ben Masse (Chicopee, MA) netted his team-leading fourth goal of the season, but host Lasell College senior midfielder Brian Whelan (Weymouth, MA) scored the game-winning goal with four seconds remaining in the second overtime to lift the Lasers to a 2-1 win over the Blazers in Wednesday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's soccer game at Newton, Massachusetts.

With the loss, Elms College fell to 4-6-1 overall, 3-3 NAC. Lasell, meanwhile, improved to 8-4 overall and remained atop the NAC standings at 6-0.

Lasell, which received the game-tying goal in the 70th minute from sophomore forward Zach Gagne (Somerset, MA), held a 22-13 edge in total shots.

Elms College returns to conference play on Saturday, October 14 at Thomas College. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
