 MEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS THOMAS, 78-58

WATERVILLE, ME, Jan. 26, 2008 - Elms College junior forward Joe Esile (Milford, CT) netted a game-high 19 points and the Blazers pulled away from a two-point lead at intermission to post a 78-58 win at Thomas College in Saturday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball game in Waterville, Maine.

Elms College, which won 60-57 at Maine-Farmington last night, improved to 11-6 overall, 4-2 NAC. Thomas fell to 6-12, 1-7 NAC.

Junior guard Aswad Thomas (Hartford, CT) dropped in 14 points and handed out eight assists for the Blazers, who led 30-28 at halftime before shooting 61.5-percent (8 of 13) from 3-point range in the second half.

Esile knocked down 5 of 9 shots from 3-point range en route to his game-high effort, while sophomore point guard Juan Galdon (Holyoke, MA) added 10 points and six assists in the victory.

Elms College held a 40-30 rebounding edge, including 14-6 on the offensive glass, as the Blazers outscored the host Terriers 20-6 in second chance opportunities.

Elms College returns to conference play when it hosts Maine Maritime on Friday, February 1. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
