Galdon, Alverio Receive NAC Weekly Honors

GALDON, ALVERIO HONORED BY NORTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE

CHICOPEE, MA, Dec. 11, 2007 - Elms College men's basketball sophomore point guard Juan Galdon (Holyoke, MA) and freshman center Juan Alverio (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) were honored by the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) on Tuesday, December 11.

Galdon was named NAC Player of the Week, as he averaged 23.5 points on a sizzling 17 of 23 shooting from the field, including 8 of 9 from 3-point range in just 19.0 minutes per game to help the Blazers to a perfect 2-0 week.

He netted 16 points on 5 of 7 shooting in just 18 minutes to lead the Blazers to a 105-67 win over Southern Vermont last Thursday. Galdon then poured in a game-high 31 points on a scorching 12 of 16 shooting from the field, including 7 of 8 from beyond the arc in Elms College's conference-opening 108-77 win over Wheelock on Saturday afternoon.

Alverio, meanwhile, was named NAC Rookie of the Week, as he averaged 12.5 points, 6.0 rebounds 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals in the Blazers' two games last week, including a 17-point, six-rebound effort against Wheelock.
