HOW IT HAPPENED
Elms found themselves down 3-0 within the first half, as Plymouth State capitalized on a couple of Blazer errors. However, the Blazers would not let this deter them, as first year forward/midfielder Caitlin Willard (Northampton, Mass.) and first year forward Maddie Saunders (North Adams, Mass.) put a couple of shots each on Plymouth State in an effort to get Elms back in the game. First year goalkeeper Sofia Rivers (Hamilton, Ohio) would make two saves during the half. Even though the Blazers fought hard, they went into halftime down 3-0.
Elms came out aggressively again after half, as Willard, Saunders, and senior forward Jamie McDonough (Dedham, Mass.) put shots on the Plymouth goal and would see a fresh set of eyes in net from first year goalkeeper Breanna White (Lafayette, La.), who would make four saves. Elms broke through when senior forward Jordan Lee (Hampden, Mass.) scored a goal, assisted by Willard to make the score 3-1. McDonough tried to get Elms closer to a tie by shooting a couple of shots on goal, but Plymouth State halted the Blazers momentum and scored two late goals to hand Elms a tough 5-1 loss.
