Women's Soccer Lose in Conference Play to Emmanuel

BOSTON, Mass. - The Elms College Women's Soccer team traveled to Emmanuel College for a conference game on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Emmanuel would be the first to get on the scoreboard, scoring early in the conference matchup in the fourth minute of play, after first-year goalkeeper Sofia Rivers (Hamilton, Ohio) would save the first shot she faced. Then shortly thereafter, the Saints would score back-to-back goals to extend their lead to 3-0. During this time, Elms would make a switch in net with first-year Breanna White (Lafayette, La.). Even with the switch in net, Emmanuel would continue to add to their lead, scoring one goal before the halftime break.

In the second half, the Saints would continue to put pressure on the Blazers defense, but White and the Elms defense would stop the majority of those shots. In the 77th minute, the Blazers would make their way down the field and senior forward Jamie McDonough (Dedham, Mass.) would take the first shot for Elms, but would go wide of the net. Before the final whistle blew, Emmanuel would add three more goals to their lead, to secure their conference victory over Elms.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• White and Rivera would make a combined 10 saves of the 17 shots they faced.

• McDonough would take the only shot for Elms in the game.

UP NEXT: The Elms Women's Soccer team will return to action on Saturday, September 20th in Franklin, Mass. as they face Dean College in a conference matchup at 3:30 pm.
