Field Hockey Concludes 2025 Season at Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. - The Elms College Field Hockey team traveled to Nichols College for a non-conference game on Tuesday evening for their season finale.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first quarter would see Nichols score the opening goal within the opening minute of play. The Bison would continue to add pressure to the Elms defense, adding an additional 12 shots during the quarter, which would see Nichols add two goals to their lead, but the Blazers would record seven blocked shots and senior goaltender Kaitlyn Lynes (South Hadley, Mass.) would make two back-to-back saves. The second quarter would continue to see the Bison with the offensive advantage, taking six shots during the quarter. Lynes would make a save and the Elms defense would add three blocked shots, but Nichols would score twice and increase their lead to 5-0 going into the halftime break.

The Bison would come out the break with momentum on their side, taking an additional 14 shots. Lynes would make seven more saves and the Blazers would block a shot, but Nichols would score four more goals to extend their lead to 9-0. Then early in the fourth quarter, Elms tried to create some offensive momentum after they earned a penalty corner and senior midfielder Abbie Sierzego (South Hadley, Mass.) would take a shot, but the Bison would continue to control the narrative of the quarter. Nichols would add five more shots, with Lynes making one last save and the defense adding a blocked shot, but as the horn went off, the Bison would win the matchup 9-0 over the Blazers.

  • Lynes would make 11 saves of the 20 shots she faced.

  • Sierzego would take a shot.
