HOW IT HAPPENED
Albertus Magnus would start the game earning three penalty corners in the first three minutes of play. Then after six minutes of the two conference foes would trade possession until the Falcons would score their first goal of the contest. Shortly thereafter, Elms would draw a penalty corner of their own and would see senior defender Katherine Ingram (Chicopee, Mass.) take a shot on goal, but it would be saved by the AMC goaltender to end the first quarter. In the second quarter, Ingram would record another shot on goal, but would once again be saved by the goaltender. Soon thereafter, the Falcons would put a second shot on net, but senior goaltender Kaitlyn Lynes (South Hadley, Mass.) would make a massive diving save. Albertus Magnus would then earn four straight penalty corners, but the Blazers defensive structure would hold strong and would record two blocked shots. Then towards the end of the opening quarter, Elms would draw a corner attempt, which would lead to a shooting opportunity for first year forward Jordyn Rossi (West Springfield, Mass.), but the shot would go wide of the net. As the whistle blew to end the first half, the Falcons would hold a 1-0 lead over Elms.
AMC would come out of the halftime break with their foot on the pedal and score in the opening minute of half. The two sides would continue to trade possession throughout the quarter, but the Falcons would take a shot on goal, but Lynes would make the save to keep the Blazers in the game. As the fourth and final quarter began, Albertus Magnus would once again take a shot on net, but Lynes would once again make the save. Shortly thereafter, Rossi would take a second shot but it would be saved by the Falcons goaltender. The two sides would continue to trade possession throughout the remainder of the quarter and then in the closing moments, the AMC offense would take a shot and Lynes would make the save. Unfortunately, the Falcons would hold on to their 2-0 lead and take home the victory over Elms.
