Field Hockey Wraps Up Conference Play at Rivier

NASHUA, N.H. - The Elms College Field Hockey team traveled to Rivier University for a conference game on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first quarter would see Rivier take a total 11 shots. During the quarter, senior goaltender Kaitlyn Lynes (South Hadley, Mass.) would make four saves, including making a save during a penalty stroke attempt, two defensive saves by senior defenders Julianna Morrissette (Killingly, Conn.) and Katherine Ingram (Chicopee, Mass.), and the Elms defense would block two shots. Unfortunately, the Raiders would score two goals to take a 2-0 lead. In the second quarter, Rivier would add two more goals to their lead. The Blazers would add a blocked shot, a defensive save from senior midfielder Abbie Sierzego (South Hadley, Mass.), and four more saves by Lynes. But the Raiders would hold on to their 4-0 lead going into the halftime break.

Rivier would start the second half by scoring four goals in the opening eight minutes of play. The Elms defense would continue to try to hold off their opposition, with two more saves by Lynes and a blocked shot, but the Raiders would continue to control the momentum of the game holding onto their 8-0 lead. Then in the fourth quarter, Lynes would add three more saves, sophomore defender Emily Kilili (Wareham, Mass.) would make a defensive save, and the Blazers would block two more shots, but Rivier would score two final goals and they would win the game 10-0 over Elms.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Lynes would make 13 saves of the 23 shots she faced.

  • Sierzego, Morrissette, Ingram, and Kilili would each make defensive saves.

  • The Elms defense would block six shots.

 

UP NEXT: The Elms College Field Hockey team will travel to Dudley, Mass. against Nichols College on Tuesday, October 28th for a non-conference game at 7 pm to concluded the 2025 season.
