Field Hockey's Woes Continue with Loss at Home to Mount Holyoke

CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Elms College Field Hockey team hosted Mount Holyoke College in a non-conference matchup Tuesday evening at Leary Field.

BASICS
Score: Elms College 0 | Mount Holyoke College 8
Records: Blazers 0-5, 0-0 (GNAC) | Lyons 3-3, 0-0 (NEWMAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Blazers struggled on defense early, and started the game down 4-0. Senior goaltender Katelyn Volk (Warwick, R.I.) made a couple of key saves to keep the Blazers in the game. The Blazers struggled on offense, and were unable to muster shots on net to keep up with the Lyons, but that did not deter them from playing hard. The Lyons continued to score against the Blazers, going up 8-0, but Volk continued to play hard and make some saves to keep the Lyons out of double digit goals. Late in the game senior defender Elizabeth Franzoni (Rutland, Vt.) had a penalty corner, but Elms was not able to score. Even though the Blazers played hard, they fell 8-0 to the Lyons.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Volk would make nine saves during the game.
