Woes Continue for Field Hockey After Loss at Home

CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Elms College Field Hockey team hosted Colby-Sawyer College for a conference game on Wednesday evening at Leary Field.

BASICS
Score: Elms College 0 | Colby-Sawyer College 9
Records: Blazers 0-11, 0-6 (GNAC) | Chargers 7-4, 5-1 (GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Blazers struggled on defense early, and started the game down 3-0. Senior goaltender Kaitlyn Lynes (South Hadley, Mass.) played admirably in net, but Elms was unable to provide her with much defense, and Elms would allow a plethora of goals, going down 7-0 over the course of two quarters. Even though the Chargers were up big, the Blazers took the game as an opportunity to build on defense, as sophomore forward/defender Lily Sheridan (Ashby, Mass.) made a key block. Colby-Sawyer would go up 9-0, but the Blazers would hold them scoreless in the fourth quarter, a positive to take in an unfortunate 9-0 defeat.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Lynes would make four saves of the 13 shots she faced.

  • Sheridan would make a defensive save.

UP NEXT: The Elms College Field Hockey team will host Albertus Magnus College on Sunday, October 12th for a conference game at 11 am at Leary Field.
