Women's Lacrosse Opens 2026 Season at Mount Holyoke
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Mount Holyoke College for a non-conference game to begin the 2026 season on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The season opener would start with the two neighboring opponents exchanging possession early, but Mount Holyoke would score three times. Junior goalkeeper Marisa LaRocque (Agawam, Mass.) would make a save, followed by shots from sophomore attack Lily Sheridan (Ashby, Mass.) and junior midfielder Rachel Dort (Chicopee, Mass.), for Elms, but then senior midfielder Jackie Cronin (Smithtown, N.Y.) would connect a pass to senior attack Katherine Ingram (Chicopee, Mass.) for the first goal of the season. Cronin would earn the draw control and would find an open Dort to take a shot, but would be saved by the MHC goalkeeper. As the first quarter would continue, the Blazers would see LaRocque add four saves, but the Lyons would score three more goals and would take a 6-1 lead going into the second quarter. The second quarter would begin by Mount Holyoke scoring in the first minute, but Cronin would win the next draw control to gain possession for Elms. As the quarter would continue, LaRocque would make five saves and a shot from sophomore attack Amanda Reed (Somers, Conn.), but the Lyons would add three more goals going into the halftime break, with a 10-1 lead.
MHC would start the third quarter with the offensive momentum in their control, LaRocque would make four saves and would cause a turnover, before the Lyons added a pair of goals. As the quarter would continue, the Blazers would see LaRocque make two more saves, but Mount Holyoke would score two more goals, to extend their lead, 14-1. The fourth and final quarter would begin with the Elms defense continuing their efforts to stop their intrastate opponents, with LaRocque adding two saves, with Cronin and junior defender/attack Shea Barron (Wallingford, Conn.) recording ground balls, before first year attack Chloe Sullivan (Hampden, Mass.) would score her first goal of her collegiate career. Then as the non-conference matchup neared its end, the Lyons would add six goals to secure the victory over the Blazers 20-2.
