The Elms College Men's Basketball team hosted their annual Senior Day, honoring their four seniors; forward/guard RJ Mayfield (Springfield, Mass.), center/guard/forward Edgardo Jacob Cancel (Northampton, Mass.), forward Adam Sarlan (Chicopee, Mass.), and guard/forward Max Rolnick (Vaughan, Ontario).

HOW IT HAPPENED

Dean would start the game with a pair of layups for an early lead, but Mayfield would make a pair of free throws and jump shot to tie the game. The two conference foes would then battle for the lead, with sophomore guard Jack Lo (H, La.) would make a free throw and Cancel added a layup and a pair of free throws, followed by a three-point shot from Mayfield, after receiving a pass from junior guard DJ Watkins (Union, N.J.). The Bulldogs would gain a four-point lead, but the Blazers would continue to fight back following five free throws by junior guard Arik Dagan (Southbury, Conn.), Cancel, and Mayfield, while Mayfield added a steal and a Cancel layup. As the opening half would near its end, Dean would look to carry their lead going into the halftime break, Elms would continue their efforts to take away the momentum with the assistance of a steal by Cancel, three layups, three free throws, two blocks, and a steal from Mayfield, Lo adding a layup, and a Dagan tip-in, but the Bulldogs would hold on to their lead going into the halftime break, 37-32.

The Blazers would come out of the halftime break with a new resilience, by scoring in the opening possession when junior guard Andrew Ciaglo (Hadley, Mass.) would find an open Mayfield for a layup, followed by Mayfield recording a block, Cancel making a layup and a three-point shot, Dagan hitting a big jump shot to take the lead, and Ciaglo making a steal. Dean would retake the lead shortly thereafter, but Elms would continue to keep themselves within an arms reach, with Dagan making a pair of layups, one being a three-point play after drawing a foul while driving his way to the basket, followed by Cancel making a three-pointer, Lo making a breakaway steal to find Mayfield open for a layup and a pair of free throws. As the half would continue, Mayfield would add a layup, Ciaglo would make a free throw, and a three-point play and a jump shot by Lo to take a three point lead, 61-58. The clock began to tick down towards its final minutes, the Bulldogs would look to regain the lead, but the Blazers offense would continue to keep themselves ahead when Mayfield would make a three-point shot and a steal, Cancel adding a pair of layups and a block, and a jump shot and two free throws by Lo to win the game 72-70.
