Setting The Scene: Elms enters Saturday's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) contest and regular season finale riding a two-game win streak and have won five of their last six contests. Daniel Webster takes the field looking for its first victory of the 2011 season.
Scouting The Eagles: Daniel Webster comes to Chicopee, Mass. looking to rebound from a tough, 2-0 loss to NECC foe Regis College on Oct. 26 in its last outing. Nikki Gassert (Woodbridge, N.J.) has scored two of the Eagles' three goals this season, while Alexis Pavelock (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) has accounted for the other. Amy Waller (Berlin, Mass.) has notched a league-best 219 saves in 13 games for Daniel Webster. In last season's game against the Blazers, Gassert scored the game's opening goal and Alexa Quintiliani (Manchester, Conn.) extended the Eagles' lead to 2-0 before Elms rallied with four unanswered scores to help the Blazers seal a 4-2 victory.
Celebrating The Seniors: Saturday's game is the regular season finale and also marks senior day. Following the 2011 season, the Blazers will graduate five players from its squad: defender Amanda Alvarado (Springfield, Mass.), goalkeeper Kelly Callahan (Monson, Mass.), forwards Erica Griffo (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Jennifer Killion (Cambridge, Mass.) and defender Brianna Valente (Springfield, Mass.).
Amanda Alvarado: Amanda is a four-year member of the program and has been a stellar contributor in the Blazers' very skilled defensive unit. In 2011, Amanda has helped Elms to seven shutout victories and has also been a scoring threat, netting three goals. For her career, Amanda has totaled five goals.
Kelly Callahan: A three-year member of the program, and a two-time All-NECC selection, Kelly was also named the 2010 NECC Goalkeeper of the Year. During her three seasons between the pipes, Kelly has amassed 256 saves which places her fourth on the program's all-time saves list.
Erica Griffo: Erica has been a catalyst for the Blazers' offense for three seasons as she has recorded five goals and nine assists during her career. In 2010, Erica registered two goals and seven assists for 11 points and her seven assists tied for the team high in the category.
Jennifer Killion: A four-year member of the program, Jennifer was a First Team All-NECC selection in 2010 and set the program's single-season record for goals with 17. With 40 total goals during her four seasons, Jennifer is just four scores shy of tying the program's all-time mark of 44 goals and now has 90 career points (40 goals, 10 assists).
Brianna Valente: Brianna has been one of the Blazers' defensive anchors during the last two seasons. A Second Team All-NECC selection in 2010, Brianna has continued to provide strong defensive play in 2011, helping the squad to seven shutout victories and a 0-0 tie. Last season Brianna added her first collegiate goal and assist.
