Women's Volleyball Sweeps Curry in Home Opener
CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Elms College Women's Volleyball team hosted Curry College in a non-conference match for their home opener of the 2025 season Thursday evening at Picknelly Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The opening set would begin with Elms taking an early 6-0 lead, with the assistance of two service aces by graduate student Alyssa Moore (Ludlow, Mass.) and kills from seniors Jaylen Holman (Las Cruces, N.M.) and Angelica Marks (Miami, Fla.). Curry would try to answer back, but the Blazers would continue to control the match, with additional kills by junior Lilliana Simmons (Springfield, Mass.), Marks, junior Quiana Gibbs (Porterville, Calif.), senior Alysha Izquierdo (Holyoke, Mass.), multiple service aces by Holman and senior Alejandra Marin (Dorado, Puerto Rico), and blocks by Marks and Izquierdo, to secure the opening set 25-12.
The second set would start with the two intrastate opponents trading points, but the Colonels would take the early advantage. Elms would then rally to take the lead from Curry, after kills from Simmons, Izquierdo, sophomore Olivia Rivera (Springfield, Mass.), and service aces by Marks, first year Samantha Haug (Union, N.J.), and Holman, including six-straight by Holman and three-straight from Marks, to win the second set 25-18.
The third and final set would begin with the Blazers taking another early 6-0 lead, with the help of kills by Gibbs and Izquierdo. The Colonels would continue their efforts to fight back, but the Elms offense would hold Curry within an arms distance to maintain their lead, with the assistance of kills from Haug, Simmons, Marks, Holman, and first year Naiima Mack (Baltimore, Md.), a block by Marks, Holman, and service ace by Holman to win the third set 25-12 and secure the sweep in their home opener.
