Women's Lacrosse Sinks Mitchell in Conference Play
NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Mitchell College in conference action on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Blazers would strike first when junior attack/midfielder Jackie Cronin (Smithtown, N.Y.) would score to give Elms a 1-0 lead. Mitchell would tie the game at 1-1 before senior midfielder/attack Greta Frankwicz (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) would score a goal assisted by Cronin to put Elms back in front. The Mariners would slice through the Blazers defense, scoring two unanswered goals to take a 3-2 lead, but first year midfielder Ali Sullivan (Chicopee, Mass.) responded for Elms to tie the game at 3. Frankwicz would score another assisted goal by Cronin again at the beginning of the second quarter, and Cronin would strike after that herself to give the Blazers a 5-3 lead. Mitchell hung tight and kept the game within one goal, but sophomore defender Rachel Dort (Chicopee, Mass.) would score herself to give Elms a two goal lead again. Cronin and Dort would score again, and Frankwicz would contribute two of her own goals, one of them assisted by first year defender Mia Pacheco (Somerville, Mass) to give the Blazers a 10-4 lead at half.
Dort and Cronin would score right at the beginning of the second half to push the Blazers lead out to 12-4. Mitchell would respond with a goal of their own, but first year attack Lily Sheridan (Ashby, Mass.) and Pacheco would score goals for the Blazers along with Cronin and Frankwicz to give Elms a dominating 16-5 lead at the end of the quarter. The Blazers offense continued its tear in the fourth quarter when Cronin scored yet again, this time assisted by Sheridan. Pacheco would contribute another goal, giving the Blazers a convincing 18-6 win.

Junior goaltender Katherine Ingram (Chicopee, Mass.) would make eight saves of the 14 shots she faced, along with two ground balls in her first career win in net.

UP NEXT: The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team will host Rivier University in their final regular season conference matchup for their annual Senior Day on Tuesday, April 22nd at 7 pm at Leary Field.
