HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half would begin with Saint Joseph's recording six shots in the opening 18 minutes, with sophomore goalkeeper Jack Bousquet (Clinton, Conn.) making two saves and a blocked shot from the defense. The Elms offense would then see their first shot from junior defender Nicolas Velasquez (Ellington, Conn.). Then moments later, senior defender Zachary Delaney (Chicopee, Mass.) would connect a pass to senior midfielder Pajorn Drysdale (Nantucket, Mass.) who would then pass to senior forward Jacobo Molina Ferrer (Valencia, Spain) for the opening goal of the contest. As the first half continued, the two conference foes would trade shots, with the Blazers recording four shots from first year Casimir Pierre, Jr. (Carfoure, Haïti) and Molina Ferrer, along with two more saves by Bousquet and the defense blocking two more shots, as Elms would go into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead.
As the second half began, the Monks would create some offensive pressure on the Blazers defense, after a shot in the 50th minute and Bousquet would make the save. Unfortunately, SJC would then even the score with a goal of their own in the 51st minute of play. The Monks would continue adding pressure to Elms, taking four more shots, but Bousquet would save two of the shots and the remaining would go off target. Saint Joseph's offense would control the remainder of the period, recording eight more shots, but none of their shots would find the back of the net, including a final save from Bousquet. The Blazers would see three final shots from Pierre, Jr. and sophomore forward/defender Ibrahim Ayouba (Springfield, Mass.), but when the final horn sounded, Elms would tie the Monks 1-1 in their final contest of the 2025 season.
