Rinaudo Claims NECC Player of the Week Award

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College junior goalkeeper Alexa Rinaudo (Bellmore, N.Y.) was been awarded the New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday morning. This is Rinaudo's first career Player of the Week honor.

Rinaudo was brilliant in goal for the Blazers last week, helping guide the squad to a 2-0-1 record in three matches. Alexa posted a pair of shutouts in NECC victories over Mitchell College (3-0) and Newbury College (2-0). In a battle against a quality non-conference opponent in Wesleyan (Conn.), Rinaudo made five saves to preserve the scoreless result. On the season, Rinaudo ranks first in the conference in shutouts with five, and fifth in goal-against average with a 1.78 mark.

Rinaudo and the Blazers (5-8-1, 4-1 NECC) will return to the pitch in home conference match against Bay Path University on Tuesday evening at Leary Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
