NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Elms College women's soccer squad faced an uphill battle as Smith netted a goal in the opening three minutes, en route to a 3-0 defeat to Smith College Wednesday afternoon at Smith Soccer Field.

With 42:17 remaining in the first half, the Pioneers delivered their first blow. Smith College freshman forward Vicki Kraft dribbled toward the net with the ball where Blazers junior goalkeeper Alexa Rinaudo (Bellmore, N.Y.) charged Kraft, who played a touch to junior forward Jordan Houston. Houston knocked a shot into the open goal to give Smith College an early 1-0 advantage.

The Pioneers extended their lead to 2-0 with less than four minutes to play in the first half when freshman forward Jordan Isaacs delivered a ball to sophomore forward Emily Smith, who placed a shot past Rinaudo at the 41:03 mark. Smith College notched their final tally in the 86th minute on a strike from Kraft, sending the Pioneers to the 3-0 win over Elms.
