Cameron, Rainey Sweep NECC Men’s Volleyball Awards

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College sophomore outside hitter Stephen Cameron (Newington, Conn.) and freshman middle hitter Bryson Rainey (Brookline, Mass.) swept the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) weekly awards for men's volleyball as announced by the league office on Monday.

Cameron was named the NECC Player of the Week following a six-match week during which he totaled 32 kills, four service aces, five blocks and 22 digs. Cameron downed a team-high in kills against No. 8 MIT on Jan. 22 and followed that performance with a team-best 10 kills against SUNY New Paltz on Jan. 23 during the two-day New Paltz Tournament and was named to the all-tournament team for his efforts. This is Cameron's first weekly accolade of the season.

Rainey was named NECC Rookie of the Week after hitting .455 (35K, 5E, 66 TA) and smashed a collegiate-career-high nine kills in the Blazers' final contest of the New Paltz Tournament against the host Hawks. Rainey added 11 total digs and three blocks during the week and tallied seven kills against both Lesley University and MIT. This is his first weekly accolade of the season.
