CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College senior goalkeeper Ryan Sullivan (Agawam, Mass.) registered seven saves, but Emmanuel College's Allan Parrelli (Reading, Mass.) netted a pair of goals and added an assist to spark the Saints to a 4-0 victory in Monday evening's non-conference men's soccer game at Leary Field.
With the loss, Elms slips to 3-7 on the season, while Emmanuel improves to 6-3-4 overall.
The sides played to a scoreless tie until late in the opening period when Parrelli fed Ryan Brady (Springfield, Vt.) a pass through the middle of the six yard box which he placed in the top right corner of the net give the Saints a 1-0 lead at the 32:19 mark.
Emmanuel struck again when Parrelli scored off a rebound on Jeremy Scanlon's (Belmont, Mass.) shot during a corner kick service in the 40th minute to extend the lead to 2-0.
Parrelli's second strike came in the 72nd minute when he beat a defender down the right sideline and drilled the ball into the far left corner to lift the lead to 3-0, before Juan Levy (Andover, Mass.) capped the scoring with a goal in the 87th minute to seal the 4-0 win.
Elms was outshot 11-1 in the first 45 minutes, but had four opportunities in the second stanza, the closest coming on a booming shot from sophomore defender Robert Watson (Enfield, Conn.) that Saints' goalkeeper Garrett Charette (West Springfield, Mass.) saved diving to his left on the short side of the goal.
Charette finished with a pair of saves in the winning effort, while Parrelli and Alexander Niski (Oxford, Conn.) totaled two shots on target each.
Elms returns to New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action on Saturday, Oct. 8 when it hosts Southern Vermont College at 2:00 p.m. at Leary Field.
