Men's Golf Third at Blazer Spring Invitational

GRANBY, Mass. – The Elms College men's golf team placed third at the 2016 edition of the annual Blazer Spring Invitational, hosted by Elms College, at Westover Golf Course Tuesday afternoon.
The Blazers fired a team score of 326, finishing three strokes from the top of the leaderboard. Freshman Chris Soderberg (Northampton, Mass.) led the Blazers, carding a team-low 79, finishing with a share of fourth on the individual leaderboard. Senior Brian Benson (Agawam, Mass.) was one stroke back in a tie at eighth with an 80. Sophomore Mike Fleury (West Springfield, Mass.) claimed a share of 12, while classmate Brian Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) took 15th with an 84. Senior Dan Olive (Jefferson Township, N.J.) finished in a tie at 24th with an 88 to round out the Blazers golfers.
Babson College won the event with a score of 323, and Babson freshman Lukas Linemayr (Hampton, N.H.) was the individual medalist with a score of 74. Rhode Island College took second with 324, followed by Elms (326), Emmanuel (335), Westfield State (339), Castleton (342), Sage (434), and Eastern Nazarene (489).
The Blazers will wrap up their 2015-16 season at the Western New England Invitational Thursday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Golf Course in Springfield, Massachusetts.
