Women’s Volleyball Swept By Skidmore,

SCHENECTADY, NY – Elms College sophomore
outside hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, MA) downed a
combined six kills but the Blazers were swept in a pair of
non-conference women’s volleyball matches by Skidmore and
Hartwick respectively in day one of the Union College
Invitational.
The Blazers were swept by Skidmore 3-0 (20-25, 8-25, 9-25) in the
first match and then fell 3-0 to Hartwick (7-25. 22-25, 18-25) in
the nightcap. With the pair of losses, Elms has lost six straight
to fall to 2-7 on the season.
Croteau and junior middle hitter Laura Kulig (Holyoke,
MA) led Elms in the opening match with three kills each
and added nine and six digs respectively.
Sophomore setter Jen Rego (Fall River, MA) paced
the first match offense with six assists. She also added two
service aces and three digs in the losing effort.
In the evening’s second contest, senior setter Kim
Phillips (Randolph, MA) led the Blazer attack by dishing
out 12 assists and adding a service ace, while freshman outside
hitter Christina Martin (Chicopee, MA) chipped in
with six kill and six digs.
Croteau finished the contest with three kills on 15 swings with no
errors.
Elms returns to Union College Invitational action on Saturday with
matches at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Opponents are yet to be
determined.
