Chicopee, MA - With COVID-19 stalling our fall and winter seasons, the Elms College Athletic Department will be showcasing our first year Blazers every Friday. Next up is our Women's Swimming program. Follow along and get to know more about your fellow Blazers!
The Women's Swimming Team brought in one new player in 2020, here is a little something about this STUDENT-athlete.
Name: Tia Rusk
Position/event focus: freestyle and breaststroke
High School: Marshfield High School
Other sports: I did softball and diving along with our swim/dive team
Favorite memory: Getting under 30secs again in the 50 Freestyle
What brought me to Elms? When I started reading about Elms, I heard they had a really good Pre-med program which got my attention. The school is also still in my home state so I am not too far away.
What made Elms stick out more? Elms had stuck out to me because it is such a small school which I prefer than such a big school like Umass Amherst.
Pregame rituals? Ever since I started competitive swimming my dad would always make me a pasta dinner since there are a lot of carbs in it and would try to get the best rest possible before.
A quote you live by and why? "With self-discipline most anything is possible"- Theodore R. I live by that quote because as long as you strive for your best self then you can accomplish almost anything that you desire.
Who inspires you to be the best driven student athlete? My friend is the one who inspires me. She has the best time management and still makes it to every swim practice she has and has almost perfect grades. I aspire to be like her.
