BENNINGTON, V.T. - The Elms College men's soccer team remained perfect in New England Collegiate Conference play with a 1-0 victory over host Southern Vermont at Everett Field Wednesday afternoon.
The lone tally of the contest for the Blazers proved to be an impressive strike. In the 37th minute, Elms senior midfielder Joseph Coleman (Easthampton, Mass.) played a ball to junior defender Connor O'Grady (Somers, Conn.), who flicked a ball towards the net, where junior midfielder Lorenzo Rolocut (Somers, Conn.) ripped a bicycle kick past Southern Vermont freshman goalkeeper Cody Gross (Fair Lawn, N.J.), to deliver the 1-0 win for the Blazers.
Elms controlled the shot cloumn, 28-8, during the conference contest. Blazers junior goalkeeper Ryan Harris (Brandon, Mo.) recorded his third shutout of the season with five saves. Gross stopped 10 shots in the loss.
With the win, Elms improves to 7-6-2 on the season, and 4-0 in NECC play, while Southern Vermont drops to 2-12-1 overall, and 1-3-1 in the NECC. The Blazers will return to the pitch in a home tilt with Lesley University at Leary Field Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Southern Vermont will travel to Regis Saturday afternoon.
