Women’s Lacrosse Tabbed Fourth in First-Ever NECC Preseason Poll
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Elms College women's lacrosse team was selected to finish fourth in the first-ever New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Preseason Poll as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
This is the first season of NECC women's lacrosse. The top four teams will qualify for a single elimination tournament with semifinals on Wednesday, May 1 and finals on Saturday, May 4. The NECC champion does not get an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship but schools will be eligible through possible at-large selection.
Under the direction of first-year head coach Maureen Ruane, the Blazers take the field with a stellar blend of newcomers and returners including five starters from last year's squad.
Junior midfielder Kayla Narey (South Hadley, Mass.) was Elms' leading goal-scorer during the 2012 season (29 goals) and will look provide a spark for the Blazers once again in 2013.
