Mens Golf Sweeps NECC Weekly Awards
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College sophomore golfer
Phil Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.) was named the New
England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week and
freshman golfer Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) was
named NECC Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on
Monday.
At the Blazers Invitational on Sept. 29, Rurak earned individual medalist honors with an even-par round of 72, helping pace Elms to a team score of 305 and a first place finish at the 15-team event. Rurak then carded a pair of 78s at the two-day Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship to help the Blazers claim the program's first-ever ECAC title with 618 total points for the event. This weekly honor is the first of the season for Rurak.
Fall helped the Blazers capture the program's first-ever ECAC title after shooting an opening round of 77, followed by an even-par 72 in second round action to help propel Elms to a first place finish overall. Fall finished in a tie for second place overall at the ECAC Championship and was also the Blazers' second best golfer at the Blazers Invitational, registering a round of 75 during midweek action. This is Fall's second weekly accolade of the season.
