Men’s Golf Leads After Round One Action At Hampton Inn Classic

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Elms College freshman golfer Philip Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.) shot a round of 77 and freshman Dan Costello (Brookfield, Conn.) carded a 78 to help pace the Blazers to a first place finish in the opening round of play at the Hampton Inn Classic hosted by UMass-Dartmouth.

Elms leads a field of 19 teams with a first-round score of 318. Trinity College follows with a score of 320, while host UMass-Dartmouth shot a collective 333 on the day. Bentley College and Husson University round out the top five teams with tallies of 334 and 336 respectively after day one action.

Freshman Anthony Roberts (Ludlow, Mass.) shot a stellar round of 80, while junior Andrew Sullivan (West Springfield, Mass.) notched an 83 to give the Blazers all four scorers in the top 25. Rurak finished the day in third place, Costello tied for fourth, Roberts tied for 11^th and Sullivan tied for 21^st place.

Elms concludes Hampton Inn Classic action on Sunday, April 11 with a 7:30 a.m. start.
