Elms College Athletics Named Montigny as New Field Hockey Head Coach
CHICOPEE, Mass. - Elms College Athletic Director Rob Southall announced on Friday morning that Laurissa Montigny will be the College's new Head Field Hockey Coach.
"We are excited to welcome Laurissa Montigny as the next head coach of our field hockey program", said Southall. "Throughout the search process, Laurissa demonstrated a genuine passion for student-athlete development, a strong understanding of the game, and a clear vision for building a competitive and positive team culture. Her commitment to excellence both on the field and in the classroom aligns perfectly with the values of Elms College. Laurissa brings tremendous energy, leadership, and a student-centered approach that will help our field hockey program continue to grow and succeed. We are confident that she will make a lasting impact on our student-athletes and the entire Elms community. We look forward to supporting her as she leads the program into an exciting new chapter".
When asked about joining the Elms staff, Montigny said, "I am incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead the Elms College Field Hockey program. I want to thank Rob Southall and everyone involved in the search process for their trust and confidence in me. I am eager to work with our student-athletes and help them excel both on and off the field. My goal is to help student-athletes reach their full potential as players while fostering the character, leadership, and resilience that will positively impact them long after their time on the field. I am excited to create a culture that challenges each player to continuously develop, push beyond their comfort zone, and become the best version of themselves".
Prior to joining Elms, Montigny served as an Assistant Coach for Mount Holyoke College (NCAA Division III) for two seasons in 2024 and 2025, and would be a staff member of Nike Field Hockey Camps. Montigny was a member of the field hockey team at MHC for five seasons, from 2018 to 2023, as a midfielder, where she would perform in the Top 10% of NCAA Division III field hockey players and the Top 25 in penalty stroke takers in 2023, earning NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week. During her time at MHC, Montigny would also serve as an Assistant Coach for the women's lacrosse team in 2024 and 2025.
Montigny graduated from Mount Holyoke College with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Education (2023) and recently obtained a Master of Arts in Teaching (2025).
