Tyler, Soutra Compete at Bay State Games
BOSTON, Mass. – Elms College men’s and women’s swimming head coach Bill Tyler and assistant coach Corey Soutra recently competed at the Bay State Games held at Harvard University on July 13-15.
The Massachusetts Amateur Sports Foundation (MASF), organizer of the Bay State Summer and Winter Games, provides quality Olympic-style athletic competitions and developmental programs for Massachusetts amateur athletes of all ages and abilities.
The MASF operates statewide and year-round to promote personal development, education, physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship and mutual respect. The MASF is a member of the National Congress of State Games, which is comprised of almost 40 states nationwide that conduct State Games events.
At the 2012 Summer Games, Coach Tyler won the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle events with respective times of 28.64 and 1:06.50, and placed third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:39.41). Coach Soutra added a third place finish in the 200-meter backstroke (3:51.62), placed fourth in the 100-meter backstroke (1:45.43) and 200-meter breaststroke (4:30.88) and clocked a time of 1:54.82 in the 100-meter breaststroke to come in fifth overall. Both coaches competed in the 50 and over master’s group.
