Women's Soccer Defeats Becker, 3-0
WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS BECKER, 3-0
LEICESTER, MA, Sept. 16, 2006 - Elms College senior forward Jen LeDoux (Easthampton, MA) netted a pair of second half goals and sophomore goalkeeper Shannon Donnelly (Florence, MA) recorded her first shutout of the year to lead the Blazers to a 3-0 win over host Becker College in Saturday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's soccer opener for both teams at Leicester, Massachusetts.
With the win, Elms College won its second straight game to improve to 2-3 overall, 1-1 NAC. Becker fell to 2-4 overall, 0-1 NAC.
Senior forward Chelsea Rose (Belchertown, MA) scored her first goal of the year in the 22nd minute to give the Blazers a quick 1-0 lead. LeDoux netted her team-leading second and third goals of the season in the 56th and 88th minutes to seal the victory.
Donnelly stopped two shots in the victory, while Becker senior goalkeeper Julie Arroyo (Westfield, MA) stopped nine shots in the losing effort.
Elms College returns to NAC play when it hosts Lesley University on Tuesday, September 19. Game time is 4:00 p.m. at Leary Field.
