MEN'S SOCCER FALLS AT BECKER, 2-0

LEICESTER, MA, Oct. 18, 2008 - Becker senior midfielder John Gilbert (Sturbridge, MA) and senior forward Dircilino DeBrito (New Bedford, MA) each scored a goal to carry the host Hawks to a 2-0 win over Elms College in Saturday's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's soccer game at Alumni Field.

The win lifts the Hawks to 8-6-1 overall, 3-1 NECC, while the Blazers fell to 4-10, 1-4 NECC.

Becker grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute when Gilbert headed in a cross by defender RJ Giegerich (Londonderry, NH) following an indirect kick from 25 yards out.

The Hawks were able to put the game away in the 65th minute when DeBrito hammered home senior midfielder Samuel Adjei's (Worcester, MA) cross for his team-leading 11th goal of the season.

Becker junior goalkeeper Aaron Fill (Ladner, Canada) finished the game with five saves for his sixth win of the season and second shutout.

Freshman Ryan Sullivan (Agawam, MA) stopped one shot for the Blazers, who held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks, but was outshot by the host Hawks 9-6.

Elms College returns to non-conference action with a game at Salem State on Wednesday, October 22nd. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
