Streeter Named Men's Soccer Head Coach
STREETER NAMED MEN'S SOCCER HEAD COACH
CHICOPEE, MA, May 15, 2009 - Elms College Director of
Athletics Louise McCleary announced the hiring of
Christopher Streeter as head coach of the men's
soccer program on Friday, May 15.
Coach Streeter brings more than 15 years of club, camp, high school and collegiate coaching experience to his new position at Elms College, including two years as an assistant with the women's soccer program at Division I UMass-Amherst (2007-2008).
"We are excited to have someone of Chris' caliber leading our men's soccer program. His extensive collegiate coaching and playing experience, breath of knowledge and local recruiting contacts will lead our program to even greater heights," said Director of Athletics, Louise McCleary. "We are looking forward to having Chris in our department. He will bring a high level of enthusiasm and commitment."
From 2005-2006, Coach Streeter served as head coach at Bay Path College, where he led the Wildcats to a combined 20-13-4 mark that included a runner-up finish in the 13-team North Atlantic Conference (NAC) regular seasons standings in his first season in 2005.
While at the helm at Bay Path, Coach Streeter had six players named All-Conference, including a pair of First Team selections.
During the 2004 season, Coach Streeter was an assistant at Mount Holyoke College, and from 1998-1999, was an assistant coach with the men's program at Westfield State College.
Coach Streeter's collegiate and professional playing credentials are equally impressive, as he was a two-year starting midfielder at Division II Merrimack College, where he was named the Northeast-10 Rookie of the Year in 1993.
He later played two collegiate seasons at Westfield State (1996-1997) and was named a First Team All-MASCAC and All-Academic selection in both years.
Professionally, Coach Streeter played as a midfielder with the Western Massachusetts Pioneers of the United Soccer League from 1997-1998, and later played with the Massachusetts Twisters of the National Indoor Soccer League from 2000-2003.
Coach Streeter earned his bachelor's degrees in both psychology and education from Westfield State and later earned his master's degree in exercise science and health promotion from California University of Pennsylvania.
