Field Hockey Woes Continue in Home Loss to USJ
CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Elms College Field Hockey team hosted University of Saint Joseph, Conn. in a conference game Wednesday evening at Leary Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Saint Joseph would begin the contest with an early offensive advantage, taking five shots in the opening three minutes. During that span, the Elms defense would record a block and senior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Lynes (South Hadley, Mass.) would record her save of the season. The Blue Jays would continue with the offensive pressure by taking an additional six more shots. Lynes would make five saves, but USJ would score on the final shot to take a 1-0 lead. As the first quarter continued, the Blazers defense would add a blocked shot, senior defender Julianna Morrissette (Killingly, Conn.) would record a defensive save, and Lynes would make two more saves, but Saint Joseph would once again find the back of the net to have a 2-0 lead. In the second quarter, the two sides would trade possession for the majority of the quarter. When USJ would put pressure on the Elms defense, Lynes would make an additional four saves, but the Blue Jays would once again capitalize on a final goal before the halftime break, to extend their lead to 3-0.
The third quarter would have USJ add two more goals during the period, but even with the adversity, Lynes would stop another four shots and the Blazers defense would block a shot. The fourth quarter would begin by Elms earning a penalty corner that would lead to Morrissette scoring her first goal of the season. The Blazers would constitute to fight their opposition after a defensive save by sophomore forward/defender Lily Sheridan (Ashby, Mass.) and Lynes would add two more saves. Unfortunately, the Blue Jays would add two more goals and would secure the 7-1 victory over Elms.
