A Look Back at the Fall of 2013

Men’s Cross Country

  • Placed 5th/6 at the 2013 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship 
    • Elms' sophomore Adam Kuzdzal (Chicopee, Mass.) was the first Blazers' runner to cross the line with a time of 32:46. Freshman Joseph Sirois (South Easton, Mass.) was next with a time of 34:30, followed by freshman Joshua Rolon (Chicopee, Mass.) (35:42) and seniors Jesse Zina (Ludlow, Mass.) (35:43) and John Southworth (1:02:45)

Women’s Cross Country

  • Placed 2nd/7 at the 2013 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship
    • Elms' senior Devon DeGrazia (Westport, Mass.) earned Second Team All-NECC honors with a sixth place overall time of 21:04 with the third fastest time by an Elms runner on any 5-kilometer course. Junior Rachel Lehouillier (Belchertown, Mass.) was 11th overall with a time of 22:33, freshman Samantha White (Tolland, Mass.) (22:38), sophomore Emma Bernard (Springfield, Mass.) and junior Shirley Ryan (Brimfield, Mass.) finished 14th, 16th and 19threspectively to give Elms five runners in the top 20. Senior Gabrielle Calvanese (Agawam, Mass.) (25:36), junior Emily Taylor (Ludlow, Mass.) (26:00), junior Maddie Boehm (Sutton, Mass.) (29:35) and senior Stephanie Konstantinidis (Holyoke, Mass.) (30:08) rounded out the Blazers' squad
    • Head Coach Matt Dyer was named the NECC Coach of the Year and the Blazers won the Team Sportsmanship Award

Field Hockey

  • Finished the 2013 season with a 5-14 overall record, 4-2 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action
  • Garnered the third seed in the NECC Championship tournament
  • Elms' senior midfielder Brianna Lyons (Canton, Mass.), junior defender Ashley Reid (Enfield, Conn.), sophomore forward Kristina Kopyscinski (Agawam, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Abby McNulty (Bedford, Mass.) were all named First Team-All NECC.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Alvino (Holtsville, N.Y.) was named Honorable Mention All-NECC

Men’s Golf

  • Placed 1st/7 at the 2013 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship
    • Garnered the program’s first-ever bid to the NCAA Division III Championship in May
    • Senior Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) finished second overall with a two-day score of 150 and became the first ever NECC golfer to be named First Team All-NECC in four consecutive seasons
    • Senior Tyler Cudnik (Hampden, Mass.) and freshman Chris Miele (South Hadley, Mass.) were named First Team All-NECC with two-day totals of 163; junior Nick Smith (Enfield, Conn.) was named Second Team All-NECC with a combined score of 165

Men’s Soccer

  • Finished the 2013 season with an 11-9-0 overall record, 5-2 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action
  • Garnered the top seed in the NECC Championship tournament, secured a 5-0 victory over No. 2 Newbury College in the tournament title game and earned the program’s second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship
  • Elms' senior forwards Ziggy Jonathan (Springfield, Mass.) and Adam O'Grady (Somers, Conn.) joined junior midfielder Safa Saady (Baghdad, Iraq) and sophomore defender Connor O'Grady (Somers, Conn.) on the all-conference first team

Women’s Soccer

  • Finished the 2013 season with an 11-10-1 overall record, 8-1 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action
  • Secured the second seed in the NECC Championship tournament, earned a spot in the tournament title game and made an appearance in the 2013 ECAC Division III New England Championship
  • Blazers' senior defender Ally Witaszek (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Michelle Rossignol (Manchester, Conn.) were named First Team All-NECC
  • Senior midfielder Christina Goodchild (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and sophomore forward Melissa Welch (Westfield, Mass.) were named Second Team All-NECC

Women’s Volleyball

  • Finished the 2013 season with a 6-19 overall record, 2-6 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action
  • Junior middle hitter JC Pickett (Chicopee, Mass.) was named Honorable Mention All-NECC
