Krasny Named Elms College Director of Athletics
CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Elms College Athletics Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Peter Krasny as the Director of Athletics beginning in August of 2012. Peter will be responsible for planning, implementation, supervision and evaluation of all aspects of the recreational, intramural, and intercollegiate sports programs.
Elms is an NCAA Division III institution sponsoring 15 intercollegiate sports. Specific duties will include budget development and management, facilities management, game administration, athletic fundraising, eligibility, compliance, game scheduling, summer camp development, and the hiring, training, and supervision of coaches and staff.
Peter has spent the last six years working in the athletics department at New York University (NYU) and since 2010, has served as the Assistant Athletic Director with direct responsibility for managing the operation of the Palladium Athletic Facility (PAF). His duties included overseeing all departmental athletic and special events and operation of the Sweat-N-Shop – the official store of NYU Athletics. Additionally, Peter led the Tear It Up! marketing program, and served as the lead advisor to the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Further responsibilities included managing the day-to-day operations of the PAF, including budgets, staffing (full-time, part-time and student workers), and from August 2010 to August 2011, he served as the project director to upgrade all cardio and strength equipment as well as the PAF student lounge.
Peter served as the Tournament Director for the 2010 NCAA Division III women’s volleyball and men’s soccer regional championships, was the Meet Director for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships, was the Tournament Director for the 2011 United States Collegiate Fencing Squad Championships, and served as a member of the ECAC Division III Metro Soccer Championships selection committee (2009-11 for the men, 2011 for the women).
During his time at NYU, Peter was also a member of the LGBTQ Advisory Committee and in 2011, worked to implement a sensitivity training program for coaching staffs and SAAC individual Safe Zone training through the LGBTQ Office.
Prior to his promotion to assistant athletic director in 2010, Peter worked as the Facility and Events Manager at NYU from 2006-10, serving as the on-site event manager for all NYU home varsity events championships in addition to overseeing daily operations of the PAF and special university-wide events at Coles Sports Center.
In 2005, Peter was a consultant for Global Athletic Management Enterprises, providing analytical support in the areas of strategic planning and leadership for Hockey East (a NCAA Division I hockey conference), and the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) which included salary and contract analysis.
Peter also brings sales and fundraising experience from a
non-athletics perspective. From 2002-06, he was the Sales
Coordinator for Auster Rubber Company in Brooklyn, N.Y. and from
1999-01, he functioned as the Development Director for a
Music-Theatre Group in New York, N.Y.
A 1999 graduate of Vassar College with a bachelor’s degree
in English, Peter was a four-year member of the Brewers’
men’s soccer team. As a youth, he trained in the New York
State Olympic Development Soccer Program and earned a bronze medal
in 1993 as part of the U.S. Juniors team at the Maccabiah Games in
Israel. An avid skier, Peter raced slalom and giant slalom for the
Brewers’ ski racing club. A native of East Williston, N.Y.,
Peter earned a master’s degree in sports business from NYU in
2006.
