Danielle Pelissier As Assistant Athletic Trainer
CHICOPEE, Mass. (July 9, 2010) – Elms College
director of athletics Louise McCleary recently
announced the hiring of Danielle Pelissier as the
assistant athletic trainer.
Pelissier is certified by the National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA) and is a current member of the organization, has obtained a Massachusetts state licensure and is American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid certified.
“We are very excited to have Danielle joining our department at Elms,” McCleary said. “She is well qualified and has a great deal of experience to bring to Blazers’ athletics.”
Prior to Elms College, Pelissier was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Smith College, where her primary responsibilities included the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries incurred by athletes in the Pioneers’ 14 intercollegiate and 8 club programs, the evaluation and management of injured athletes, and provision of emergency medical care to injured athletes on site. Pelissier also worked as a seasonal athletic trainer at Amherst College.
For the second consecutive summer Pelissier is working as a summer sports camp athletic trainer in Northampton and Amherst, Mass. The evaluation and management of injured athletes, provision of emergency medical care to injured athletes on site, effective communication with coaches, other athletic trainers, health services, and athletes about medical or sport related injuries/illnesses and the maintenance of accurate records.
Pelissier earned her bachelor's degree in movement science with a concentration in athletic training from Westfield State College, and her master's degree in kinesiology from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
