WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY FINISHES 4TH AT WNEC INVITATIONAL

SPINGFIELD, MA, October 24, 2006 - Elms College sophomore Catherine Andrews (Feeding Hills, MA) and senior Joe Crooks (Chicopee, MA) were the highest individual finishers for the women's and men's cross-country teams in Saturday's Western New England College (WNEC) Invitational.

Andrews finished the 5,000 meter race 10th overall with a time of 22:06.2 as the women placed fourth out of nine teams with a combined score of 128.5. Crooks finished the men's five-mile course in 31:51.1 and placed 28th.

WPI swept the invitational with a women's team score of 34 and a men's team score of 35. Individual winners were WPI senior Meghan Murphy with a time of 20:10.8, and WPI grad-student Alex White who clocked a time of 27:34.9.

Both the men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship on Saturday October 28.
